Habitats

There are a number of coastal and marine habitats in the Solent and these different habitats provide homes to a range of plants and animals making the Solent an area rich in biodiversity.  The main coastal and marine habitats in the Solent are:  Coastal Grazing Marsh; Estuaries; Maritime Cliffs; Rocky Shores; Saline Lagoons, Saltmasrh, Sand Dunes; Sea-grass beds/intertidal flats and vegetated shingle.

The Solent Forum has published an information pack on coastal habitats in the Solent. It is currently preparing a complimentary second pack on marine habitats.
